July Summer Newsletter
July 15, 2019
I can’t believe that it is the middle of July already! I hope that all of you are enjoying the summer and relaxing. The start of the school year is quickly approaching, so I wanted to provide some updates and reminders about the coming year.
First, we’d like to say goodbye to Ms. Cathy Carland, our instructional assistant in room 2. Ms. Carland, who injured her back earlier this year, is still on the mend and doing well, but unable to continue in the classroom, however, I'd like to officially welcome Mrs. Janine Gately to the faculty as Mrs. Johnson's instructional assistant. Mrs. Gately, a former SPX parent, was our long-term subsitute teacher last year for Ms. Carland and is excited to be joining our team. We’d also like to wish Miss Alicia Cardamone, one of our Lower Elementary teachers, the best of luck. Miss Alicia has decided to leave St. Pius X and move onto new endeavors for the coming school year. I am actively interviewing prospective candidates for the Lower Elementary room and will notify families when a teacher has been hired. I am also currently interviewing for a part-time music teacher as well.
Our summer office hours continue (Monday-Thursday from 8am – 1:00pm) until Monday, August 19th when regular office hours will resume (Monday-Friday 7:30am – 3:30pm).
As attachments to this letter, we’ve included a draft calendar, school supply lists, uniform updates, information about the HSA Crab Feast, and soccer registration information. This important information can be found on our website - http://stpius10school.org. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the front office at 410-427-7321.
Our Used Uniform Sale will begin on Monday, August 5th during office hours and continue through the remainder of the summer in the school gym. Please stop by and visit for your back to school uniform needs (we accept cash and check). Also mark your calendars for Thursday, August 29th. Our Sneak Peek will take place that afternoon from 4:30-5:00pm followed by our Home School Association’s Back to School Celebration from 5:00-7:00pm in front of school. Come see the classrooms and meet the teachers and then stay for the celebration and enjoy a time of fellowship. We will even have a visit from the Kona Ice Truck! You will receive a reminder email as the date gets closer.
The first day of school for ALL students is Tuesday, September 3rd. This is a full day of school and Before and After Care will begin for those families who have registered. If you are in need of a Before and After Care packet, please visit our website or contact the main office. Please be sure to register by August 20th. If you need assistance or have questions about our Before and After Care program, please contact Mrs. Ruppert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All students were given summer work the last week of school that needs to be completed. Both the Language Arts and Math work is due on Friday, September 6, 2019.
All students (Primary Montessori through 8th grade) must be in the complete uniform on the first day of school. Please see the attached Uniform Guidelines sheet for important updates to the Lower Elementary uniform. As you know Flynn & O’Hara is our exclusive uniform company. Please contact them online or visit the store to place your order. If your child has gotten an extreme haircut or has altered the color of their hair in any way, please be sure to have it taken care of prior to the start of school.
Our HSA is hosting a Crab Feast on Saturday, September 7th, here in the school gym. Please see the attached flyer for more information. To order your tickets follow this link (you may have to copy it into your browser address box) - http://bit.ly/2G7nQ8R
Fall soccer registration is now open. We are in need of coaches and players this season. Please fill out the attached registration form and return it to the school or parish office. Please send all questions to Scott Williams at email@example.com.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office at 410-427-7321 or me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to an exciting school year and the return of the students in September!
